Scholarship Programs
You are invite to apply for a scholarship based on specific criteria.
Scholarships are offered for full retreat programmes and apply to the standard registration price only. They are not valid in conjunction with Early Bird rates or other discounts.
Scholarship applications close three months before the start of each retreat. Successful applicants will be notified once the application period has closed.
TIM BRESENDEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This auspicious award is given to one individual each year that aspires to exemplify the spirit of building community and inspires others by doing so.
KANAKA SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship provides up to 50% tuition and is awarded to individuals of Hawaiian ancestry who are committed to bringing these ancient teachings to their families, communities, or who are interested in being supported by a career that perpetuates these teachings into a modern context.

Lomi Lomi is authentic Hawaiian healing for body, mind and spirit. In ancient times, Lomi Lomi was family work, used to keep everyone in the home healthy and strong. Ho’omana’s style of lomi comes from the therapeutic approach of the 6 lineages of Hawaiian elders Kumu Jeana Iwalani Naluai had the privilege of studying with.

Spring/Fall | 650 Hours
Prefer hands-on experience to a classroom setting? The 650-Hour professional Apprenticeship & Spa Internship is a part-time program. Learn all about the Hawaiian healing arts in an exclusive, upscale spa setting where true transformation unfolds. At the end of your training, you will be eligible to sit for the license to become a massage therapist in the State of Hawaii.
Food & Housing
Lomi Lomi Workshops are held in the education center at Ho'omana Spa Maui, an oasis of Hawaiian healing. Enjoy the peaceful upcountry retreat that empowers wellness and rejuvenation.
Accommodation
Ho'omana offers shared dorm-style housing for students who are enrolled in a Lomi course. Accommodations include bed linen, towels, private bathroom and kitchenette. Fees $65 per night, one time cleaning fee of $99 plus 17.42% tax. Accommodations are offered on a first come first serve basis. We sell out every retreat so it is recommended to book early.
Food
Food is not included in the retreat and students are asked to bring a lunch and snacks each day to class and during the outings.

If for any reason you need to cancel*, a 15% of workshop fees will be charged and the remaining portion fully refunded. Cancellation 30 days before instruction begins, 50% will be refunded. Once the course begins, there will be no refunds. Any fees collected may be used for another Lomi Lomi training up to one year from original class date.
*For Covid-19 related cancellations, you may transfer your tuition to another Ho’omana training event of your choice with no fee.
Students are responsible for providing their own meals and snacks during class.
Ho’omana offers shared dorm-style housing for students who are enrolled in a Lomi course. Accommodations include bed, linens, towels, private bathroom, and kitchenette.

Ho’omana’s Lomi Lomi sources from the lineage of the Big Island. This Lomi Lomi comes from lineage holder Auntie Margaret Machado who has now passed on. The idea behind this Lomi style then is to bring the persons spirit, mindset and bones back into alignment, the practice is known as Ho’onohoiwi (bone movers) and is advanced in comparison to most level one trainings available. Our intention is to connect with the individual down to the level of the bones and is very specific and therapeutic work.
Because of the process of this style of Lomi, the courses are incremental; therefore students need to take our entry level course, otherwise student may be lost or injure themselves or patient.
When Lomi is a path that you are passionate about, no training will be wasted but will serve the greater understanding of the practice as a whole. Because you have learned in another lineage, it will assist you with a more rapid integration beginning with our Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Fundamental Training.
We would be honored for you to join our courses, and the pre-requisite of Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Fundamental Training is required.
Yes. Courses can be taken individually, but keep in mind that Fundamentals is a pre-requisite course for every Ho’omana Lomi Lomi training. To request registration for single courses, please email classes@lomimassage.com.
After each course is completed, students receive a formal and certified certificate with the Nationally Approved Provider verification information for continuing education units. Currently, we are certified with:

Previous bodywork is not necessary. Even young children can learn to Lomi!
You will not need a student visa to enroll in our courses. Lomi Lomi is a cultural practice and your studies will be recreational, not for college credit, degree or academic certificate. You are considered a visitor or tourist. All of our international students enter the US with a standard tourist visa.
