How to Stop Unwanted Experiences

We’ve all been there – that place where we feel like we can’t catch a break. So, we keep attracting the same type of person or situation into our lives, over and over again. And it’s not fun. In fact, it can be downright painful. But what if there was a way to stop this cycle and move forward with our lives? Would you welcome a chance to clear out the old so that new and better things could come into your experience?

If you’re looking for a helpful technique to avoid unwanted experiences and take control of your path, check out the video below:

Bowl of Light Meditation

In Hawaii, there is an ancient oral tradition that gives some insight into how we can process unwanted experiences. It describes how all children are born with a bowl of perfect light. As this light grows, so do the child’s strengths and understanding of the world.

However, as we age, we encounter things like jealousy, resentment, and anger, which act as stones that weigh us down. As rocks are put into our bowls of light, it becomes heavier and harder to carry. This is because the stone and the light can’t hold the same space and the light became dimmer and dimmer. As the light goes out, people themselves become like a stone, unable to grow or move.

To get over this, all you must do is turn the bowl upside down. Remember, you’re the one that tends your light and controls your destiny. You shape your experiences and have the power to control your mindset and how you respond to the things that happen around you.

When you shine your own light, it attracts light from others and brings forth experiences that match the energy you put out into the world.

Dealing With Your Triggers and Reactions

Once you’ve turned your bowl upside down, it’s time to look at the stones and deal with them so that they can never hurt you again.

You want to break those stones into tiny pieces, or even better yet: sand. That way, there is nothing left, and they no longer have power over you. You do this by healing yourself from within and recognizing what no longer serves you.

When something happens that causes a visceral reaction within you, take a minute to breathe deeply and center yourself. If you stuff everything down and don’t deal with what’s bothering you, it can manifest itself as a disease or sickness.

To avoid unwanted experiences, we must learn how to seek out things in our lives that are more positive.

If it helps, you can seek out your happy place and go there when you start to feel uncomfortable. You can also soothe yourself with physical touch by tapping your foot or snapping your fingers.

When you let your mind run free with negative thoughts, it can manifest itself as physical symptoms that create a loop of nervousness and other negative emotions. You can get over this by training yourself to have a more positive response. Instead of retracting inside because of fear, put yourself out there and open your heart.

Share Your Gifts and Light with Others

Lastly, once you’ve dealt with your triggers and cleared out the old energy, it’s time to share your gifts with the world.

When we allow ourselves to open up and share our authentic selves with others, they can do the same in return. This creates a space of connection and love that was previously unavailable.

We all have something unique to offer, and all of these amazing experiences that are waiting for us cannot happen until we let go of our negative thought patterns. Doing so allows us to share what makes us truly special.

You have the ability to grow and recognize the habits that no longer serve you. So, dump out your stones and shine your light into the darkest corners of yourself and others. With this, you’ll open yourself up to living a life filled with infinite possibilities.

So, if you’re feeling stuck or like you can’t catch a break, try out the Bowl of Light meditation and start on your path to self-awakening. It may not be easy, but it will be worth it in the end.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing this meditation and the thoughts surrounding it. I truly believe in attraction and the concept of receiving the energy in equal measure to what we send out. And also the idea of seeking out others that match our vibration. I bought my first sound bowl last fall and look forward to using it for the meditation. Mahalo, Kumu Jeana!
